Tata Steel Foundation Joins Forces with NCPEDP to Boost PWD Ecosystem

Tata Steel Foundation and the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People enter a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a better ecosystem for individuals with disabilities.

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation has partnered with the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) to enhance the ecosystem for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in India.

This partnership, sealed with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), came into effect on June 30 and will last for one year.

Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Steel Foundation, and Arman Ali, Executive Director of NCPEDP, were the signatories of the MoU.

As part of the agreement, the organizations will co-organize a National Annual Seminar. The seminar will focus on diverse aspects such as rural disability, health, livelihood, access to education, and more.

Additionally, a minimum of two pilot projects are set to be initiated to form, train, and strengthen Disabled Persons’ Organisations (DPOs) in rural areas of Jharkhand and Odisha.

A research-based publication addressing rural challenges and aspects of the RPWD Act, among other issues, will also be encouraged under the MoU.

Arman Ali voiced his belief that this collaboration could play a crucial role in effecting grassroots-level change.

On the other hand, Sourav Roy acknowledged the shared ethos of NCPEDP and SABAL, a Tata Steel Foundation initiative, expressing his excitement over the potential opportunities that this collaboration might unveil.
