JAMSHEDPUR – The Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur flagged off the Urja Rath initiative on Thursday, which aims to provide relief to rural domestic consumers under the Electricity Bill Interest Waiver Scheme.

The initiative features the One Time Settlement Scheme, which has been approved by the state government.

The One Time Settlement Scheme provides relief to consumers by waiving off their outstanding electricity bills until December 31, 2022.

The scheme covers Rural Domestic, Urban Domestic, Irrigation, and Agriculture Services, with the total DPS being waived.

The maximum bill will be payable in five monthly instalments, with no instalment being less than 20% of the total payable amount.

No surcharge or DPS will be levied on the remaining amount under this scheme.

The Jamshedpur administration, as well as the rest of the state, has taken measures to ensure this scheme reaches the last person.

The officials said that the Urja Rath was flagged off with the objective of increasing public awareness about the One Time Settlement and to encourage people to pay their outstanding electricity bills.
