Ranchi Tamar Man Sentenced to 7 Years for Counterfeiting, Fined Rs 55K

In a fake note case, the court sentences Ranchi Tamar resident Santosh Kumar Ravani to rigorous imprisonment for seven years and a fine of Rs 55,000.

JAMSHEDPUR – ADJ 4 Rajendra Kumar Sinha’s court in Jamshedpur on Wednesday sentenced Santosh Kumar Ravani, a resident of Tamar in Ranchi, to seven years of rigorous imprisonment in a fake note case.

In addition to the prison sentence, Ravani has also been fined Rs 55,000.

Santosh Kumar Ravani was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs 50,000 under section 498C of Bhadvi and a further three years imprisonment and a Rs 5,000 fine under section 120B.

The court declared that if the fine isn’t paid, additional simple imprisonment of six months and one year, respectively, will be imposed. Both sentences are to run concurrently.

Additional Public Prosecutor Rajeev Kumar stated that eight people testified in the case.

Meanwhile, two more accused in the case, Uday Kumbhkar and Ram Prasad Manjhi, remain at large.

The court has issued arrest warrants against them both.

An FIR was initially registered against the accused at the Kamalpur police station based on the statement of the then station in-charge.
