Tata Steel flags off 1st Tata Ferroshots consignment from Jamshedpur, bolstering eco-friendly steel production & expanding market presence.
Jamshedpur – Tata Steel has marked a significant milestone as it flagged off the first-ever consignment of Tata Ferroshots from its Jamshedpur Steel Plant.
The event was attended by Rajiv Mangal, Vice President of Safety, Health & Sustainability, who flagged off the consignment on April 27, 2023.
Tata Ferroshots, a granulated pig iron product, is manufactured using cutting-edge metal granulation technology.
The eco-friendly and safe manufacturing process sets it apart from other products in the market. Tata Steel initially launched Tata Ferroshots commercially in 2016 from its Kalinganagar plant. Since then, over a million tonnes of the product have been sold in the market.
The product has found widespread use in electric arc furnaces, induction furnaces, cupolas, basic oxygen furnaces, and foundries, where it is utilized as a replacement for pig iron, scrap, or DRI.
The inherent properties of Tata Ferroshots result in better yield, higher productivity, and lower energy costs, making it the preferred product for the secondary steelmaking industry.
With the addition of the Jamshedpur facility, Tata Steel has now expanded its production capabilities, allowing it to deliver Tata Ferroshots from two sites, including Kalinganagar.
The company in a press release said that this expansion is expected to strengthen its market presence and cater to the growing demand for eco-friendly, cost-effective steel manufacturing solutions.
