Tata Steel Literary Meets’ Curtain Raiser Today

The literary meets kick off with Jharkhand Literary Meet (JLM) at Ranchi on December 10th-11th, 2022

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel Jharkhand Literary Meet is back in Ranchi to celebrate its fifth edition. The Curtain Raiser took place today at the Centre for Excellence with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri award-winning Indian poet, lyricist, and film writer Javed Akhtar.

The curtain raiser flags off the Tata Steel Literary Meet Season, which also includes the ‘Kolkata Literary Meet’, and the ‘Bhubaneswar Literary Meet’.

Jharkhand Literary Meet was launched in 2017 as Jharkhand needed a festival that would celebrate its rich, diverse yet underrepresented literature and culture. The idea was to take Jharkhand to a wider world audience and also to bring the world to Jharkhand. It has now become an integral part of Jharkhand’s annual cultural calendar in the five years of its existence.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel said: “At Tata Steel, we believe in making a difference in the communities we serve. One of the ways we do this is through events that promote art, culture, wellness & education. Jharkhand has a rich heritage and a vibrant culture that celebrates art, music, cinema, literature, and theatre and JLM becomes the perfect platform that brings everything together. The overwhelming response to the lit meet every year encourages us to keep our emphasis on a consistently high quality of participants, and an inherent connection with the local cultural ethos and this year is no different.”

The Tata Steel Jharkhand Literary Meet this year would be inaugurated at Ranchi on December 10th at 11:30 am, by Javed Akhtar alongside Writer, politician and sociologist Mahua Maji, Chanakya Chaudhary and Prabhat Khabar’s Editor-in-Chief, Ashutosh Chaturvedi. The venue for this year’s Meet is Audrey House, a gracious colonial-era bungalow near Raj Bhavan.

This edition of Jharkhand Literary Meet would see participation from eminent writers and personalities of national renown such as Javed Akhtar, Vinay Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Kirpal, Indrajit Sinha, prestigious Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar winner Mihir Vatsa, Sudha Arora, Poonam Saxena, Rachana Yadav, Jonathan Gil Harris, Gianluca Rubagotti and more.
