Tata Steel Successfully Executes Planned Implosion of Obsolete Unit at Coke Oven

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has successfully carried out a scheduled implosion of a 12m tall model repair shop at a non-operational Coke Oven facility in Jamshedpur.

In a statement, the company said that at 3:20 PM today, it carried out the scheduled implosion of a 12-metre tall Model Repair Shop at a non-operational Coke Oven facility in Jamshedpur.

According to the statement: “The implosion was executed as planned and completed in 2 seconds by our contract partner Edifice Engineering, India and Jet Demolition, South Africa.’

The statement further added: “After implosion an inspection was carried out by the Edifice Engineering team with Tata Steel using drones and no damage has been reported to property or people in the surrounding area.“

Tata Steel team was continuously monitoring dust, noise, and vibration to ensure safe and environment-friendly execution.

Emergency services like the fire brigade and ambulance were on standby.
