New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government at the centre has created a new Ministry of Co-Operation. Amid hints of a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, the central government announced that a new Ministry of Co-operation has been created. The ministry will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
The ministry will help deepen co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching upto the grassroots.
The ministry will work to streamline processes for ‘ease off doing business’ for co-operatives & enable development of multi-state co-operatives.
Several BJP leaders have expressed happiness at the government’s decision to form a separate ministry for cooperation.
Earlier, Modi government had also created a separate ministry for Jal Shakti (water power).
