AJSU leader Hare Lal Mahto arrested from Digha, sent to jail after medical examination

Seraikela: The Seraikela police on Saturday arrested AJSU central committee member Harelal Mahato from Digha, West Bengal.

Harelal Mahato has been arrested in connection with cases filed after alleged violation of covid guidelines during a religious function in Nimdih area and subsequent attack on a police team by the locals.

The police team arrived in Seraikela from Digha with Harelal Mahato.

After medical examination, he was sent to judicial custody.

The AJSU leader had allegedly provided fund for a function in which Covid guidelines were allegedly flouted.

When a police team from Nimdih reached the site, it was attacked and assaulted by the locals.

Soon after the incident, a case under non-bailable sections were registered against the AJSU leader and a search was initiated to arrest him.

A Seraikela police went to Dig and arrested him there. On Saturday, he was sent to judicial custody after medical examination.

His supporters shouted slogans in his support while he was being taken for medical examination.

A heavy police contingent was deployed during the medical examination.

Harelal Mahato is an AJSU leader who had also contested assembly elections. Although, he had lost elections on Ichagarh Assembly seat, he did second in terms of bagging votes. However, his popularity remains intact.
