Ghatshila MLA Visits Family Injured in Road Accident

Condoles Death Of Six-Year-Old Girl At TMH

Key Points:

  • MLA Somesh Chandra Soren meets accident victims at TMH
  • Six-year-old Shreya Krishna Sinha dies during treatment
  • Drunk driver allegedly hit family near river bridge

JAMSHEDPUR – Ghatshila MLA Somesh Chandra Soren visited an injured family at Tata Main Hospital on Friday. He inquired about their condition following a road accident earlier this month.

The mishap occurred on the night of September 1 in the Ghatshila assembly constituency. Officials said the incident happened around 9 pm near a river bridge.

A driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, hit four members of a single family. The woman among them fell from the bridge into the river below.

Her husband and both children suffered severe injuries in the crash, according to accounts from the scene. However, alert locals managed to pull the woman out safely.

She was found nearly a kilometre downstream from the bridge. The woman sustained a broken knee and other serious injuries to her body.

All four family members were admitted to Tata Main Hospital for treatment. Doctors began emergency care soon after their arrival.

During treatment, the family’s six-year-old daughter, Shreya Krishna Sinha, died. Her body has since been kept in the hospital’s mortuary.

Meanwhile, the girl’s parents and brother remain under treatment at the hospital. Doctors are continuing to monitor their recovery.

MLA Soren met with hospital doctors to discuss the family’s medical care. He urged them to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.

He also met the grieving family in person during his visit. “I have assured them of all possible support,” the MLA said, expressing condolences over the child’s death.

Several local leaders accompanied the MLA during the hospital visit. These included former district spokesperson Gurmeet Singh Gill, Sonaram Soren and Vikram Besra.

Others present included Mangal Soren, Rahul Agarwal, Maninder Singh and Sandeep Sharma. All of them offered their support to the bereaved family.

The road accident has drawn attention to drunk driving cases in the region. Similarly, hospital staff have handled several road trauma admissions in the past year.

Doctors at Tata Main Hospital have previously spoken about the facility’s emergency preparedness. Besides medical care, the hospital has also expanded services such as online slot booking for patients in recent years.

Moreover, the hospital’s administration has occasionally faced staffing concerns, including a case where several junior doctors resigned. On the other hand, senior officials such as Dr J J Irani have also been treated at the same facility in the past.

In the Ghatshila subdivision, administrative changes have occurred periodically, including when a new SDO took charge of the area. Similarly, fresh SDO appointments were made across nearby subdivisions in the past.
