Bagbera-Area Voters, Mukhiya Reps Say Names Vanished Despite Valid Forms

JAMSHEDPUR – Panchayat representatives in Bagbera and nearby areas have alleged that names of hundreds of eligible voters are missing from the draft electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision. The list excludes several mukhiyas, deputy mukhiyas and panchayat representatives despite valid documents being submitted.
Affected voters reportedly submitted SIR forms along with required documents to their respective Booth Level Officers within the given deadline. They were issued receipts acknowledging submission at the time.
However, many eligible names were found missing when the draft voter list was later published. The gap between submission and the published roll has caused concern among residents.
Panchayat Samiti member Sunil Gupta and Lagul Sunil Gupta, along with other Bagbera-area panchayat representatives, raised the issue publicly. Affected voters joined them in demanding a fair, high-level investigation.
They have asked authorities to verify submitted forms, documents and receipts against official records. Representatives also sought a clear explanation for each case where a name did not appear on the list.
Officials have been urged to promptly restore eligible names to the voter list following verification. Meanwhile, representatives said any negligence or irregularity by BLOs or officials should be probed.
They demanded appropriate action against staff found responsible for lapses. Besides individual verification, they called for stronger monitoring and oversight of the broader SIR process going forward.
Panchayat representatives said the measures were needed to prevent similar errors in future revisions. They argued that voting is a democratic right of every eligible citizen.
