BAHARAGORA – On March 7, Baharagora will host the ninth annual mass wedding ceremony, a program designed to aid underprivileged brides. Spearheaded by former BJP State President Dr. Dineshanand Goswami, the initiative has seen over 200 couples married since its inception eight years ago. This year, 20 brides will marry in a Vedic ceremony.
A Community Effort
Addressing a preparatory meeting, Dr. Goswami emphasized the event’s significance in addressing economic challenges faced by families. “Many parents struggle to afford their daughters’ marriages. This collective effort ensures that society comes together to bless these young women,” he said. Thousands of guests participate annually, creating a festive and supportive atmosphere.
Breaking Barriers
The initiative aims to transcend caste distinctions, uniting society for the betterment of these brides’ futures. “This program has evolved into a social movement,” Dr. Goswami remarked, highlighting the event’s commitment to being entirely plastic-free.

Couples will undergo registry marriages before the main ceremony. The grooms will pledge to avoid substance abuse, refrain from domestic violence, and support environmental conservation. Each couple will also receive practical household items to begin their new lives.
