JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation’s 5th Sabal Awards celebrated the remarkable talents of persons with disabilities through art, music, and dance performances.

The event, held at the Tribal Culture Centre in Sonari, Jamshedpur, showcased the extraordinary abilities of people with disabilities (PWDs).

Senior leadership from Tata Steel, parents, and guardians of PWDs attended the ceremony.

Previous award winners were also present to witness the performances.

The Sabal Awards have consistently recognized exceptional talents of PWDs across India.

This recognition emphasizes the need for more inclusive platforms in society.

Overwhelming Response

This year’s awards received an overwhelming response from across the country.

Over 750 applicants from 21 states and four union territories submitted their entries.

Fifty top finalists were selected for the final round of evaluations.

These finalists presented unique stories of strength, courage, and creativity through their journeys.

Special Opportunities for Winners

The top performers in each category will receive a special opportunity.

They will showcase their talents at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai.

This grand finale is scheduled for January 2025.

Winners in music and singing categories will receive a year-long mentorship.

This mentorship program is in collaboration with the Shankar Mahadevan Academy.

It provides a unique chance for participants to refine their skills and reach new heights.

A Platform for Empowerment

Sourav Roy, CEO of Tata Steel Foundation, expressed his enthusiasm for the event.

“We’re delighted to conclude another successful edition of the Sabal Awards,” he said.

Roy highlighted the platform’s role in creating a safe and inclusive space for PWDs.

He emphasized the inspirational nature of sharing new talents on stage.

The CEO noted how this strengthens the inclusivity of the platform.

“Sabal Awards have become a significant motivating force,” Roy added.

He mentioned the awards’ ability to unite like-minded collaborators in this empowerment journey.

Roy stressed the importance of providing spaces for safe dialogue and self-expression.

An expert observer commented, “Sabal is emerging as a national transformation model.”

They highlighted its crucial role in building inclusive societies.
