Elephant ‘Ramlal’ Causes Havoc in Chakulia’s Maurbeda Village

Residents Flee as Elephant Destroys Homes and Crops in Search of Food

In a desperate search for food, an elephant named Ramlal caused significant damage in Maurbeda village, Chakulia, early Wednesday morning.

CHAKULIA – An elephant named Ramlal broke into the home of Baijun Munda in Maurbeda village, Chakulia, on Wednesday morning, causing extensive damage.

At around 5 AM, Ramlal arrived at Baijun Munda’s house and broke through the mud wall in search of food.

Baijun Munda reported that the elephant ate the rice stored in bags inside the house before leaving.

The early morning intrusion forced the family to flee for their safety.

Villagers have expressed concern over the frequent visits of Ramlal, noting that the elephant has been causing considerable damage in the village while searching for food.

Another resident, Bharat Munda, reported that the elephant entered his farm at night, destroying vegetable and banana plants by eating and trampling them.

Bharat Munda stated, "Ramlal has become a constant threat to our village, causing significant damage to our homes and crops."

The villagers are seeking urgent intervention to address the elephant menace and protect their properties.

The forest department has been informed of the situation, and measures are being discussed to prevent further damage by Ramlal.

This incident highlights the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region, with villagers calling for effective solutions to ensure their safety and livelihood.
