Residents Queue From 4 A.M. Despite Assurances on Supply

JAMSHEDPUR – Panic buying continued across the city Friday as residents queued since dawn despite repeated assurances of normal fuel supply.
People continued rushing to fuel stations across Jamshedpur for the third consecutive day. Rumors regarding a petrol and diesel shortage fueled panic buying citywide.
Meanwhile, district officials clarified that fuel supply remains completely normal. Authorities urged residents against unnecessary stockpiling.
Moreover, East Singhbhum officials appealed for responsible fuel purchases. Petrol pump operators also requested customers to buy only essential quantities.
However, panic among residents showed no signs of slowing. Fuel tankers reportedly emptied within hours after reaching stations.
Several petrol pumps temporarily stopped operations after stock depletion. Long queues appeared outside stations throughout Friday morning.
Meanwhile, many residents started waiting outside fuel stations from 4 A.M. Large crowds remained visible across highways and city roads.
On the other hand, fuel prices also increased from Friday morning. Petrol now costs ₹100.76 per litre across the city.
Diesel prices increased to ₹95.68 per litre on Friday. Earlier, petrol sold for ₹97.80 while diesel cost ₹92.55.
Moreover, several fuel stations accepted only cash payments during peak hours. Digital payment users faced additional inconvenience during purchases.
Traffic congestion worsened near major petrol pumps during the day. Long vehicle queues disrupted movement across several important routes.
Meanwhile, trucks, JCB machines, cars, and motorcycles crowded fuel stations together. Traffic jams developed near highway-side pumps and busy intersections.
The district administration deployed extra traffic police personnel across sensitive locations. Officers managed traffic near major fuel stations throughout Friday.
However, residents continued expressing concern over the situation citywide. The ongoing panic significantly affected normal movement across the industrial city.
The situation also impacted areas including Bistupur, Sakchi, Telco, and Tatanagar. Authorities again appealed for calm and responsible fuel purchasing.
