DHANBAD – A trader was attacked and robbed by three armed assailants in Dhanbad’s agricultural market complex on Sunday evening.
Shyam Bhimsaria was closing his refinery shop in the Barwaadda police station area. He was heading home when the incident occurred. Three criminals on a motorcycle intercepted him. They attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
Bhimsaria resisted the robbery attempt. The assailants then launched a violent attack. They fired several rounds of bullets. However, the shots missed the trader.
The criminals struck him with a gun butt. The blows hit his head and ear. Bhimsaria sustained serious injuries from the assault.
Fellow traders rushed him to Jallan Hospital. Medical treatment is currently underway. Meanwhile, police reached the crime scene and began investigation.
Officers are examining CCTV footage from the area. The footage may help identify the attackers. Authorities are working to trace the accused.
Trader Jitendra Kumar witnessed the aftermath. “Bhimsaria was leaving after closing his shop,” he said. “Three criminals ambushed him and opened fire. The bullet fortunately missed him. But they injured him severely with gun butt blows.”
Another trader returned from a chamber event. “We received news of the robbery and firing,” he said. “This is extremely concerning for our community.”
The incident has sparked outrage among traders. Many complained about deteriorating law and order. Criminal activities are increasing in the market area. Traders say police security remains inadequate.
The traders’ association condemned the attack strongly. They demanded swift arrest of the culprits. The association also called for enhanced security measures.
Similar incidents have plagued Dhanbad in the past too. An elderly man was robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh earlier. Truck driver and helper were shot over tobacco dispute. A community leader was critically injured in another shooting incident.
