Key Points:

– Strike begins October 26 over parking and rate hike issues.

– Union demands better parking conditions and rate increases.

– Members will start an indefinite hunger strike at the parking gate.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Trailer Owners Union will begin an indefinite strike starting October 26, demanding solutions to parking and rate hike issues.

The Union, led by President Jai Kishore Singh, raised concerns over long-standing issues at Tata company’s Burmamines parking lot. Singh noted that large potholes in the parking area have caused damage to vehicles, affecting over 600 drivers daily.

Moreover, there are only three restrooms in the parking facility, which the union claims are insufficient for the number of drivers using the area. Despite repeated requests, no improvements have been made.

In addition to the parking problems, the union mentioned that a promised rate hike for trailer owners has not been implemented. Frustrated with the lack of response from management, the union announced an indefinite strike and a blockade of the parking gate, beginning on October 26.

According to the union, members will also initiate an indefinite hunger strike to press their demands. Singh warned that the situation could escalate further if no action is taken by Tata company officials.
