Minister Champai Soren emphasizes improving educational infrastructure to retain students in the state.
Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education department minister Champai Soren announced the establishment of Eastern India’s first Divyang University in Ranchi.
RANCHI – On Thursday, Minister Champai Soren from the Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education department took the time to review the progress of the work being done by his department.
He mentioned that a university for disabled students will be built in Ranchi, which will improve the educational facilities in Eastern India and make it easier for students to get an education without having to go elsewhere.
We also discussed the progress of the Pandit Raghunath Murmu Tribal University in Jamshedpur during the meeting. We are expecting the appointment of a new vice chancellor this month, which will help speed up the development of the project.
The university being proposed for disabled students in Ranchi will be a pioneering initiative in Eastern India. It aims to offer customized educational arrangements and specialized courses that cater specifically to the needs of Divyang students.
The university is committed to providing specialized courses and educational equipment to support students with disabilities.
In addition, the department has put forward the Navothan Scholarship Scheme, which aims to provide financial assistance to orphan and disabled students in the state. Under this scheme, eligible students can receive full coverage of their course fees, up to Rs 10 lakh per year.
Additionally, these students will be provided with Rs 48,000 per year to cover their residential and food expenses.
The meeting also talked about the renovation of 38 other colleges and universities, such as Jamshedpur Co-operative College and LBSM College.
A proposal has been made to establish a new engineering college in Gumla, as well as new polytechnic colleges in Deoghar, Barhi (Hazaribagh), Patratu (Ramgarh), Bundu (Ranchi), Jamshedpur, and Rajnagar (Seraikela-Kharsawan).
Additionally, there was a suggestion to create new universities in Giridih, Sahebganj, Deoghar, Khunti, Gumla, and Jamshedpur.
