150th Sahitya Majlis Celebrates Literary Legacy In Jamshedpur

Scholars Discuss Vivekananda And Tagore’s Contributions At Milestone Event

Monthly gathering marks over 12 years of continuous literary discussions at Rabindra Bhavan.

JAMSHEDPUR – The 150th edition of Sahitya Majlis was held at Rabindra Bhavan auditorium in Sakchi, celebrating over 12 years of monthly literary discussions.

Ashis Chowdhury, General Secretary of Tagore Society, highlighted the event’s significance in fostering literary dialogue.

Swami Krishnanathananda and Dr. Pavitra Sarkar from Ramakrishna Mission Kolkata were key speakers at the one-day workshop.

Krishnanathananda emphasized ideological similarities between Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore.

"Vivekananda enriched the land with charity, while Tagore created literature imbued with love for nature," Krishnanathananda noted.

Dr. Sarkar described both figures as "blessings for humanity" who worked to eliminate societal evils.

The scholars highlighted the enduring legacy of Vivekananda and Tagore in inspiring social uplift.

Dr. Achinto Kumar Das conducted the program, which drew educationists and literature enthusiasts.

Chowdhury concluded by emphasizing literature’s role in fostering new creations and honoring influential writers.

This milestone event underscores Jamshedpur’s commitment to preserving and discussing literary heritage.
