JAMSHEDPUR – In a quest to make learning more engaging and colourful, Little Flower School (LFS) decided to forsake textbooks and notepads for a day, instead immersing its students in experiential learning activities.

Dubbed “Bagless Day,” the innovative educational approach sought to inculcate self-learning methodologies among students.

This initiative was particularly highlighted in a social studies project on sources of history, aimed at encouraging a keen interest in the past.

Class 4 students of LFS were educated about the four primary types of historical sources – coins, artefacts, monuments, written documents, and oral histories.

To provide an interactive learning experience, around 150 students were taken on an educational trip to the Coin Museum in Sakchi.

Here, they learnt about different eras, minting methods, and other intriguing details through the extensive coin collection.

Class teachers Sumy Barun, Nirmala Bhagat, and Sudipta Dey facilitated the process, helping students understand ancient reigns, commercial systems, languages used, and the value of currency.

Building on this enlightening excursion, the students are now preparing for an exhibition where they will display antique coins and artefacts, and share valuable insights gained from their experience.
