Successful Seraikela-Kharsawan police operation rescues a local digital trainer from kidnappers within five hours.
SERAIKELA – Late Thursday evening, the police of Seraikela-Kharsawan successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping.
The target was a young man named Sumit Raj, a resident of IIT Gokul Nagar Society and a digital trainer primarily engaged in online trading.
Summoned by a man named Md Hasan to RIT Mod, Sumit arrived with a companion, only to be forced by Hasan and his five other accomplices into a vehicle. Covering his face, the criminals took Sumit to an undisclosed location.
The Crime and Its Unfolding
The culprits then pressured Sumit for the phone numbers of his relatives, threatening him with death if they didn’t receive a ten lakh rupee ransom promptly.
Sumit provided the details of his wife and a friend, Arvind.
Following the ordeal, Arvind accompanied Sumit’s wife to Adityapur police station to report the incident.
Station in-charge Rajan Kumar immediately swung into action upon receiving the distress calls from the kidnappers. He informed SDPO Harvinder Singh and SP Anand Prakash, who swiftly assembled a team to commence the rescue operation.
The Rescue Operation and Aftermath
Over the course of approximately five hours, the police managed to locate the vehicle near a deserted area close to Arka Jain University Road, Gamharia. Upon discovering their vehicle had been found, the kidnappers increased their pressure on Sumit to produce the ransom money.
In the ensuing chaos, Sumit seized an opportunity to escape. As he emerged onto the main road, he found the police search party. With relief washing over him, he made contact with the officers. Despite an overnight search with Sumit, the kidnappers remain at large.
Behind the Scenes
It’s been revealed that the incident was orchestrated by Sudarshan, a resident of Patna who was already acquainted with Sumit. Alongside Hasan and other local criminals, Sudarshan masterminded the kidnapping plot. The diligent intervention of the police, however, derailed their plans.
Various police personnel including SDPO Harvinder Singh, station in-charges Rajan Kumar, Sagar Lal Mahtha, Sushma Kumari, SI Abhishek Kumar, and Tiger Mobile Umashankar played key roles in this operation. SP Anand Prakash has expressed intentions of honoring these brave officers for their exemplary service.
This marks the second instance in the district where a kidnapping attempt was thwarted, the first being the successful rescue of flour trader Mahendra Agarwal from Mudia.
